Artist Statement: "Canal House" Series

Abstracted texture in the wear of historic items. Each has a story to tell of its service: beauty in the chaos its surface has become.  Items once created for appropriateness, now find attraction in their unusual appearance.  I document their stories in detailed photographic images, focusing on the damage of decay: abstraction in the texture of line, which draws the viewer in closer than they would consider venturing alone.  A translated understanding of a subject not previously acknowledged is the result.

Each image is a unique, single edition photograph on aluminum panel.  Digital compositions, captured in natural light, with no editing or minimal editing.  Mounted on aluminum for a contemporary connection between the historic subject and the viewer, without obstruction of glass or frame.
